Soap star Samia Smith has given birth to a daughter, a spokesperson for the new mum has announced.
The 27-year-old Corrie actress welcomed her first child with husband Matthew yesterday morning (October 19th). Freya Smith weighed in at seven pounds and two ounces.
"Mum and baby are doing well. Samia and husband Matt are delighted. Everyone at Corrie is thrilled at the latest arrival to the Corrie family," an ITV representative revealed.
The happy couple tied the knot back in September 2005 and announced news of the pregnancy in April, just days before Samia sadly lost her father to cancer.
Other Coronation Street cast members to welcome a new arrival this year, in what has been named the 'Corrie baby boom', include Jane Danson, Julia Haworth, Jack Shepherd and Alison King.
Meanwhile, former co-stars Tina O'Brien and real-life partner Ryan Thomas are set to celebrate their daughter Scarlett's first birthday next week.
