Family holidays have become increasingly popular in recent months as parents prioritise time away with their kids.
While many households are struggling to make ends meet nationwide, families refuse to sacrifice their holidays despite the current economic climate.
Kate Kenward, executive director at the Association of Independent Tour Operators, said: "Despite the recession families are still looking forward to and booking their holidays as they realise it's impossible to put a price on the value of a relaxing break, whether overseas or in the UK.
"Any country offering good value, family friendly facilities, and particularly self-catering accommodation, is going to be well received."
A recent survey carried out by HolidayExtras.com found that 42 per cent of people agreed that being with loved ones was the best thing about going on holiday.
This month, Tesco Travel Money also reported that one in six parents are prepared to take their kids out of school to get a cheaper holiday.
