2008/11/21 - Ashlee Simpson gives birth to a son

First-time mum Ashlee Simpson welcomed a baby boy with husband, rocker Pete Wentz yesterday. According to People magazine, the 24-year-old singer gave birth to son Bronx Mowgli Wentz on Thursday, weighing a healthy seven pounds and 11 ounces.

"Ashlee, Pete and baby Bronx are all healthy and happy, and thank everyone for their well wishes," a source told the US celebrity publication.

In Touch magazine reported that Ashlee had gone into labour last night and was taken to celebrity hospital Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

An insider told the magazine: "The family are really excited and are waiting to meet the baby."

The new parents tied the knot on May 17th this year, almost two weeks before announcing that they were expecting their first child together.

Commenting on news of the pregnancy earlier this year, the couple stated that it was the most joyous time in their lives and they were very excited to start their family.
