They will partake in at least 21 days of complete bed rest prior to the birth of their baby to study the effects on their body.

The researchers claimed that studies by NASA have revealed that bed rest affects every organ in the body.

Judith Maloni, a professor of nursing at the Bolton School, noted that women who have had bed rest in the last trimester of their pregnancy often suffer back problems and muscle aches.

In related news, scientists have this week discovered the cause of post-partum depression through studies into the brain mechanisms in mice.
