A new study has found that mothers experience a "natural high" from their own baby's smile. |
The study, published in the journal Pediatrics, claimed that the areas which "lit up" were the brain sections typically associated with reward.
Dr Strathearn added: "These are the areas that have been activated in other experiments associated with drug addiction. It may be that seeing your own baby's smiling face is like a 'natural high'."
The research could be a very important step in fully understanding the special bond mothers have with their children, he concluded.
Recently, the Daily Mirror advised expectant mothers to massage their bump as this can strengthen their bond with their child and also boost the unborn baby's immune system.
