Bottle 'reduces colic symptoms'

The manufacturers of a fully vented vacuum-free feeding bottle claim that it can reduce symptoms of colic.

Dr Brown's Feeding System was designed to help babies feed more comfortably, as it automatically removes bubbles that can cause discomfort in infants and helps ensure a continuous flow of liquid.

According to Dr Brown's, the bottle will not only "give your baby the chance to enjoy a more comfortable feed, but you won't have to worry about which teat to use or which shape of bottle to use".

Colic affects around 20 per cent of babies and the condition usually sets in a few weeks after birth, continuing for a period of months, according to the NHS.

It also warns that smoking during pregnancy could double the risk of a baby developing colic.
