Important safety notice - Clippasafe UK 3 pin night light - Model no.78/1 batches 330ss and 218tt

We have been notified of a very few incidences whereby the electrical connection pins on the back of the night light have become loose or detached from their housing.

The batches of product affected are 330ss and 218tt. If you have bought a clippasafe night light since may 2013, and no longer have the packaging identifying the batch number, or you have a packed product showing one of the above batch numbers on the back of the blister card, please return it to the following freepost address, including your name, address and phone number.

Important product improvement notice - Cosatto Giggle stroller

Following the launch of our Giggle stroller in summer 2012, we became aware of problems affecting the front mounting bracket. This only applies to a small number of products from some of the first batches manufactured. In a small number of cases, this was causing the folding mechanism on the chassis to fail.

In response, Cosatto are providing a product improvement service. To check if your Giggle may be affected and to take advantage of this service, follow the simple steps below:

Do you have one of these Giggles?

Remove any seat units and turn your chassis upside down to look at the underneath of the front mounting bracket.

If your front mounting bracket is either 3 or 4 you do not need to take any action. If your front mounting bracket is either 1 or 2 we need to arrange to retrofit an enhanced replacement part. To do this, we have set up a dedicated service using a priority courier service to collect and return the chassis to you within a three-day* turnaround time, at no cost. UPDATED 06/08/2014 - Important product improvement notice - Cosatto Giggle stroller

Last year we identified a problem affecting the front mounting bracket of Giggle. In a small number of cases in early batches this caused the folding mechanism on the chassis to fail.

In addition to working with our factory to correct the issue at source, we reached out to our customers offering a free product improvement service. This was to enhance the performance of product in affected batches identified from our information at the time.

However, our latest market feedback following a number of failures particularly during recent heatwave conditions indicates that a very small percentage of chassis within later batches are now being affected. We therefore feel it is appropriate to extend our action as identified below.

Please note: If your product went through the product improvement service last year, or your batch number is after that identified, your product is not affected and no further action is required.

How to find the batch reference of your Giggle.

The batch reference can be found on a sticker on the inside leg of your assembled Giggle chassis (left hand side as you push it). The pictures below will show you how to find it:

You can additionally confirm the “product name” and “colourway” from this sticker. If the sticker gives the product name as anything other than GIGGLE, or the colourway as anything other than BIZZY BETTY, ALL STAR, GOLIGHTLY, PABLO, SUNNY or TREET then you don’t need to take any further action - your product is fine to continue using.

If your Giggle shows a batch reference of week/year of 33/2013 or earlier, we need to retrofit an enhanced replacement part. To do this, we have set up a dedicated priority courier service to collect and return the chassis to you within a four-day* turnaround time, at no cost. If your Giggle has a batch reference later than week 33/2013 then you are not affected by this notice and your product is fine to continue using.

As part of an ongoing program of continual product assessment, a potential safety concern has been identified relating to the seat buckle on the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS manufactured between week 22/2012 and week 22/2013. During a collision there is a potential risk that the buckle may release. Although there have been no incidents reported, should you have a car seat from the affected batch you should stop using the car seat immediately and request a replacement buckle. NOTE: only replace the buckle when you own a Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS (see photo) which was produced between week 22/2012 and week 22/2013 to check this please look at the ECE sticker (orange and white label on the bottom of the car seat).

Replacement buckle for the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS car seat is available free of charge. This can be obtained by contacting Dorel customer services at customercare@dorel.eu . This issue relates solely to the Maxi-Cosi Citi SPS. If you have another Maxi-Cosi car seat, there are no concerns with the buckle and there is no need to take any further action. This action is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your child and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Kiddicare works closely with its own brand manufacturers to develop and improve its products and ensure all of its car seats meet the official and current ECE R44/04 European Safety Standard.

We recognise that customers may be concerned by the recent Which? Kiddicare Maxi SP review, based on its ADAC test findings. Therefore, Kiddicare will be happy to exchange any Kiddicare Maxi SP car seat for an alternative Kiddicare own brand car seat, for free, either in-store or via our central customer care team. Otherwise credit can be used towards a branded car seat or refund issued.

No other Kiddicare car seats are affected.

On August 15th 2012m Bumbo International Trust conducted a voluntary action to add a restraint belt and new warnings to the Bumbo Baby Seat in the U.S.

Infants can maneuver out of, or fall from, the seat, posing a risk of injuries.

Working Closely with the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) in the U.S., Bumbo has determined that the potential safety issue can be readily corrected in the home by adding a restraint belt. In addition, Bumbo is providing a new warning sticker for consumers to attach to the seat to re-emphasize existing warning against use of the seat on any raised surface.

TOMY are the authorised distributors of the Bumbo Baby Seat in the UK and we are offering the same remedy to all UK customers. We will send you a kit which includes a belt with a new warning sticker, installation instructions, proper use instructions and a new warning sticker. There is no need to return the Bumbo baby Seat.

Angelcare - voluntary product recall in USA/Canada

Following recent media coverage regarding a voluntary product recall in the USA/Canada, we would like to explain to all Angelcare users in the UK/Ireland why there is no recall required in Europe, including the UK/Ireland.

For over 15 years Angelcare has been dedicated to providing high quality, safe products that offer peace of mind to families all over the world. It is and will always be Angelcare’s mission to provide the best product to families everywhere.

It is extremely unfortunate that incidents in the USA have occurred in 2004 and 2011. The recall notice from Health Canada confirms the following: “in both cases, the baby monitor unit was placed too close to the crib and the cord to the sensor pad was pulled into the crib by the infant”. It is therefore essential that your monitor is set-up correctly and that all cords are placed out of reach of children.

Angelcare has therefore initiated a voluntary recall of Sound and Movement Baby Monitors in the USA/Canada and is providing consumers with protective cord covers along with instructions as a precautionary measure. This protective cord cover gives parents an additional method of securing the sensor pad cord.

Due to specific regulations and standards that apply to the USA and Canada only, Angelcare has been asked to provide these covers in the USA/Canada through a voluntary recall.

All Angelcare monitors meet the European BS EN safety standards. According to the European regulations the cord covers are not required as a precautionary measure, as the warnings and instructions clearly explain how to install the monitor and cords correctly. A correctly installed monitor poses no risk to your baby. This applies to all branded monitors with cords that are available on the market. Therefore a voluntary product recall is not required.

However, we fully understand that you are concerned about the safety of your baby. It is important that all cords are placed out of reach of your baby. Please ensure that:

  1. The nursery unit is at least 3 feet (1 metre) away from your baby’s cot
  2. The sensor pad cord is kept well out of reach of your baby, wrapped around the leg of your baby’s cot and secured with cable ties
  3. Please refer to your instruction manual for more detailed information on how to set-up your monitor correctly

Novartis Consumer Health UK LTD (NCH) announced today that it is recalling certain batches of Tixylix®, paediatric liquid cough and cold medicines, because of a potential manufacturing defect with the tamper seal that could result in small pieces of plastic being found in the bottles.

Whilst no pieces of plastic have been found in Tixylix® medicines and the potential occurrence of this defect is very low, as a precaution, we are recalling the batches from consumers, retail customers and wholesalers in the UK. Consumers are asked to return these products to the place of purchase for a refund. The health and safety of our consumers is always our highest priority.

Important safety information regarding Medela B-Well Sterilisers

Medela takes the safety of its products very seriously. Therefore, Medela has initiated a worldwide voluntary field measure with regard to all B-Well Sterilisers. Customers are asked to disconnect the unit from the electricity supply immediately and permanently refrain from using the B-Well steriliser.

Due to moisture potentially gathering at the connection of the power cable and the Steriliser unit in individual cases, B-Well Sterilisers can carry a potential risk of burn, fire or exposure to significant electric current. Despite the fact that no significant health complaints associated with such incident have been reported, the risk of very severe health complaints can at this point not be excluded. As an additional measure, Medela is requesting all customers to either return the B-Well-Steriliser to the point of purchase or to return by post to Medela UK at the address below. What is the issue and what is Britax doing about it?

In the United States there has been a very small number of incidents where parents have reported finger lacerations when folding the B-Agile 3 pushchair.

Even though there were very few reported incidents and none of them outside of the United States, Britax as a global and responsible company has decided to offer a solution for improvement of the B-Agile products to retailers and consumers in Europe, too .

ATTENTION: Recall alert for LeapFrog Scout&Friends Baby Walker

Dear LeapFrog Parents,

We are disappointed to announce a voluntary recall of the detachable phone part of select LeapFrog Scout&Friends Baby Walkers. We have found that, in some cases, the adhesive holding the sticker to the plastic body cal fail, causing pieces of the stickers to become detached, creating a remote possibility of choking. This recall affects the phone piece of the product only.

What to do: If you own a Scout&Friends Baby Walker, first check to see if your product is affected. To do this remove the front panel (see figure A), turn it over and check the code (figure B). If you have a phone with a white LeapFrog logo on the reverse (figure C) your product is safe and does not need to be recalled.
