Now your little is one and is on two feet, you need to start looking up instead of down when it comes to making your home safe. Now she's able to get at worktops and counters that were previously out of reach, and may even be able to climb to get at something she's had her eye on.
Your toddler may also be ready to move into a big bed, particularly if you're finding she can clamber out of her cot. The general rule is to make the change when your child is taller than 35 inches (or about 90cm). Before you take the plunge, be sure to invest in some guard rails. Unfortunately, they won't stop her from getting out if she's decided to wander in the middle of the night, but at least you'll know she's not going to fall while asleep.
