This is not a pure pressure mounted stairgate, you need to fix two cups to the walls before using it. The gate rattles when you shut it and it requres so much pressure to mount it that it dents walls and causes banisters to bow !! But hey it is cheap and once in its kid proof

I bought this product because I thought it would not require any drilling to fix to the wall, but the instructions say it must not be used without its fixing cups, which need attaching - my mistake I guess, but the gate is very narrow indeed - especially when carrying a baby. The assembly was no problem anyway, which is more than can be said for another gate I have, and the only other niggle is that it rattles quite a lot when opening/closing

I bought this product for use when my Granddaughter stays . on reflection I think it is probably better to spend a little more and buy a gate with no bar at the bottom.

Easy to put up and very sturdy and secure. Easy to open and close (but not for little fingers!). Great to be able to cook and let out little man roam free without fear of making his way into the kitchen. only slight negative is that the door itself is quite stiff but i assume that'll loosen up with use.

How I use the Product - I am a registered childminder working from my own home. I needed three stairgates, one for the top and bottom of the stairs and one for the kitchen.
Things that are great! - This stairgate is incredibly easy to put up. This is the third type of stairgate I have tried. The first was very flimsy, so I took them down. The next was strong but very difficult to put up. When we took them down to get some furniture up the stairs it was nigh on impossible to put back. So I bought these little beauties. They are sturdy, strong, and so quick and easy to instal I nearly cried with relief, having struggled for literally HOURS with our old ones!!! These are smart and tidy and the latch is easy to open if you have a nice big adult hand!
Things that arent so great - the bottom rail is quite chunky, so I have decided not to use it on the top stair because its a trip hazard. Apart from that they are perfect!
So good that this is my second one

We bought the gate as it was pressure mounted. however there are cups that have to be screwed into the wall and the gate is mounted with pressure within the cups.
Once set up the gate is very sturdy but easy to use with one hand (for when you're carrying baby or wriggling toddler).
We have ours at the bottom of our stairs. In the instructions it shows that the gate is to be used at the very bottom or very top of the stairs so it's not actually on a step but on the hall/landing floor. Our banister starts at the bottom step so we can't put the gate up on the hall floor as we have no banister to apply the pressure. We've had to set ours up on the 1st step and push it right up against the next step to try and give us sufficient foot space on the step. It's not ideal. We have a kiddieguard (rollerblind type gate) at the top of the stairs which would have been ideal but they are quite pricey so we could only get 1.
Hope this review was of use and I've not rambled on too much.

I looked at quite a few gates before I purchased one and this is by far, the BEST one. :-) I don't have stairs, but this gate is perfect for keeping your crawler or toddler "out" of a room OR "in" one! The gate is easy to use with one hand too. Definitely my best purchase for the price.
Really well made, glad I bought two

This product is great as it just adjusts to the space you need so if you have bannisters or shaped stairs this is a great gate! To open the gate you have to put pressure on 2 points so your baby cannot do it himself but it is easily done one handed if you are carrying them.
Excellent good quality product
By first time mummy but learning fast!
