I didn't start using these nappies until my son was a year old. I just kept thinking of all the disposables I was using and decided to give cloth nappies a go. I think they are great. It is more work, but not enough work to justify not using them. They wash really well - no staining and I bought a laundry bag which goes in the wash basket that all nappies can be popped into during the day and then the whole bag goes in the wash in the evening. All poo is put down the loo on biodegradeable liners. They save lots of money - even though they need washing every day they can go in with other things and my washing machine tends to be on every day anyway.
One downside is that they take a long time to dry, but if you have a tumble drier that's OK. My son notices the wetness more and needs changing more frequently (apparently that is good for potty training though), and I still use a disposable at night - can't face the idea of it disturbing his sleep, what with teething and everything going on, so that would be the next step!
I would highly recommend them.
