No, I would not recommend this to a friend
This cot is good as it is quick to assemble and generally quite sturdy. However it is designed to be for babies up to 18 months. My son is 6 months and almost has no room to move already!! The bassinet section was good and will last longer than the packaging states, but it does swing side to side a little. The main travel cot section has very loud sides. My baby loves to scratch them with his fingers as they make such a lovely noise!!
