It was great when our baby was newborn because we used it mostly like a carrycot on the pram and was much better in the car lying flat. As our first baby was premiture she was so uncomfortable in our friends regular car seat because her head flopped and as our midwife said, it would restrict her breathing so we bought this Matrix car seat because it can lie flat in the car and pram so was much healthier for her. As she got older we started using it sitting up and it did us for about a year and we then bought a forward facing car seat. Would recommend it, specially for small babies because its 100% healthier and 100% more comfortable for baby.
I bought this car seat because it was flat for newborns-9kg and then could be used as upright rear facing from 9-13kg. As a flat seat it was fine, although quite difficult to install and impossible to lift with a baby in it. It was even more difficult to install as an upright car seat, difficult to get my baby in and out of it and worst of all it was so upright that my son's head flopped forward whenever he went to sleep thus waking him up on car journeys. I am now having to buy a new car seat well before he has technically outgrown this one.
