We have two of these gates on our stairs as we wanted something stronger than wood. The gates are a little fiddly to assemble and install - definitely need an extra pair of hands at times - but once in are fine.
Good quality at a good price.
This is a well designed, well manufactured product that looks good and does everything expected. Easily opened and closed, and is a reliable barrier to the children, aged 3 months to 3 years. I fitted two last w/e, to two open plan stairs exiting the living room, and just ordered a third for another location at the bottom of one of the stairs (Nursery area). Having no bar across the floor (trip hazard!) is a major attraction.
We use our two at the top and bottom of our wider stairs for our two youngest grandchildren. When our youngest one started to be attracted to her own house stairs, we bought her a double pack for her first birthday. It is easy to use and stow away when they are not with us.

I bought this particular gate for the same reason as another reviewer because I live in a very old cottage with no straight lines. These gates give the flexibility of being able to be fitted at an angle. We needed a gate that could be fitted directly to the banisters as no walls near at all. My concern was that our banisters are mostly rounded. This gate was ideal as the fixing are very narrow meaning they are fine on the rounded surface (they dont stick out at the edges). Our stairs are also very wide at around 102cm so these were ideal. Our stairs and floors are far from straight meaning I couldnt measure from the floor up for the fixings (using the template) but instead had to add fixings to one side, effectively put the rest of the gate together and hung on the first fixings in order for me to mark where the second fixings should be. Not an issue caused by these gates. I should also comment on the instructions. After seeing other reviews on poor instructions I wasnt expecting much but I didnt actually find them bad at all. There were only pictures without text but I dont think that is an issue. If you are ok putting flatpack furniture together then these shouldnt be a problem. Just make sure you keep referring to the instructions so not to miss anything (like adding the little pin onto the fixing to prevent gate opening 1 way) Very happy with gates now fitted.

The thing that attracted me to this particular gate was that it could be mounted to fasten on an angle. I live in an old cottage which doesn't have a straight line or right angle in the place! Following the instructions was challenging as there's no text, but once I figured it out it wasn't too bad. All the parts were there and easily-identified. Hanging the first gate I tried to follow the instructions step-by-step and got into an awful state! I had to stop and work things out for myself. So the first one took me about 3 hours (yes, really) but once I'd got that cracked, I had the second built and hung in about 20 minutes. I think if you have straight walls you'll be laughing. Now they're hung, they open and close easily with one hand, as advertised, and seem sturdy enough.
Brilliant... once it's installed!
